The Passing of Ken Fleet

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Amabile Choirs conductor emeritus, Ken Fleet. Ken was co-conductor of the Boys and Men’s choirs for 15 years. Our condolences and sympathies are with the Fleet family and friends, and within our own Amabile family as well. Ken Fleet touched the lives of many many choristers and our thoughts are with all of you.

“Ken passed away peacefully on Aug. 13 at the Village of Glendale Crossing three days before his 67th birthday. He is survived by his wife and best friend Janet, children, Andrew (Elsa Rose), Kimberly Maddigan (Kaitlyn), Rebecca Tompkins (Brian) and grandchildren, Orla and Greta Fleet, Rian and Teaghan Maddigan, Alex, Sophie and Julianna Tompkins and his brothers, Greg (Mary) and Randy. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, cousins and Janet’s many family members. Predeceased by his parents, William and Myrtle Fleet.

A Memorial Service will be held at Metropolitan United Church, 468 Wellington St. London, on Friday, Aug. 23 at 3:00. Reception and visitation will be held at The Hyland Country Club, 1922 Highland Heights, London, following the service. Anyone who has sung under Ken’s direction or sung with him is invited to join a mass choir for the service. If you are interested in singing please email trees@amabile.com for details. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Ken’s memory be made to the Ken Fleet Choral Conducting Scholarship Fund (lcf.on.ca), Growing Chefs! Ontario (growingchefsontario.ca), or a Choral Ensemble or Charity of your choice.” – Janet Fleet

Thank you for the music Ken. You will always have a place in our hearts.
