…and they’re off!

…and they’re off! The Amabile Young Men and Treble Concert Choir sang “Oh Canada” and boarded the bus for the first leg of their journey to Paris, Switzerland, Italy & Austria.

First stop is Paris for a little sightseeing, then Basel Switzerland to rehearse and perform at St. Peter’s Church (Peterskirche was rebuilt at the time of the Council of Basle (15th C.). Then through William Tell country to Lucerne for another concert at St Peter’s (circa 1178 AD). Next stop is Lecco, Italy near Lake Como (50kn north of Milan). The Treble Concert Choir and Young men will be singing in the Sanctuary Nostra Signora Della Vittoria! From the Piazza Cemenati, they guys will be cheering for Canada as the parade of gongolas down the river Adda will carry the national flags of all the participating nations. After the closing ceremonies the men of Amabile will head off to Bergamo and then on to Verona and Venice. From there, they make their way to Salzburg, Austria – home of Wolfgang Amadeaus Mozart and the setting for many parts of the movie “Sound Of Music”. They will also make a stop in Berchtesgaden, Germany at the Kehlsteinhaus (nicknamed “Eagle’s Nest” by a French diplomat), which was built as a present for Hitler’s 50th birthday in 1939. The journey ends back in Venice before the long flight home.
