Congratulations to Amabile Alumni Mathew Emery!

From their website www.choralcanada.org/ comes this great news: Association of Canadian Choral Communities (ACCC) is pleased to announce that Matthew Emery has been selected as the winner of the 2014 Competition for Choral Writing and the recipient of the Diane Loomer Award of $1500. Matthew’s composition, “The Lover’s Chant”, will be published by Cypress Music and premiered by the 2014 National Youth Choir/Chœur National des Jeunes, conducted by Hilary Apfelstadt, at PODIUM 2014 in Halifax, NS this May.

Matthew Emery (b.1991) is a Canadian composer whose music has been performed across North America, Europe and Asia. His music has also been broadcast on national television and radio. Matthew is the 2013 ACDA Raymond W. Brock composition winner. Emery’s choral works have been performed by renowned vocal ensembles including the Vancouver Chamber Choir, Pro Coro Canada, Canadian Chamber Choir, Da Capo Chamber Choir, choirs at the University of Louisville, University of Manitoba, University of Western Ontario, University of British Columbia, Amabile Choirs, Ontario Youth Choir and the Nova Scotia Youth Choir. Matthew studied with Dr. Stephen Chatman at the University of British Columbia and is published by: Alliance Music Publications, GIA Publications, G. Schirmer, Pavane Publishing and Santa Barbara Music Publishing. Matthew is a member of the Canadian League of Composers.
