A Song For Our Sisters a huge success!

The four Amabile female choirs hosted “A Song For Our Sisters” benefit concert last weekend, with special guest Liona Boyd accompanied by Michael Savona, and guest emcee Marnie McBean.

Final tallys are yet to be completed, nonetheless the evening was considered by all a huge success as a fundraiser for Plan Canada’s “Because I Am A Girl” and for Brescia College’s “Girls LEAD” program. The music was stellar and captivated a pretty full house.

Following the concert Liona Boyd tweeted: “loved singing Canada My Canada w/ @amabilechoirs @AmabileChoir last night for @biaagcanada fantastic org and great voices, thanks girls!!!”

Another highlight of the evening was a guitar auction – a classical guitar, autographed by Liona Boyd, First Lady of Guitar, sold for $1,000.

Amabile and Jim Papoulis at OMEA

Amabile Treble Concert Choir had a wonderful evening of rehearsals with NYC composer Jim Papoulis a few weeks ago, and Fri Nov 8th did a workshop with him at the Ontario Music Educators Association for 1200 music teachers in Niagara Falls!

The TCC sang a cameo concert that featured many of his scores. But perhaps the most special part of the evening was being recorded as part of a backup choir for his commissioned piece for the 1 year memorial to the children who so sadly lost their lives in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012 on Dec 14th. His commission will be performed by Adele, and when you hear the backup choir, know that our boys voices are there, singing in memory of the children and their families.

Way to go Amabile!!!!
